Invisibility cloak developed for the Russian military: thermal imager will not see it

Camouflage robe reduces the infrared signature of humans and equipment

Obninsk-based company Hider X has developed new camouflage cloaks for the Russian military. Footage of field tests of the new product has appeared on the Web.

The special material provides a multiple reduction in the infrared signature of a person or other covered object, from a generator to radiators of the hardware module of the electronic warfare (EW) complex in the long-wave infrared wave range (LWIR).

As a result, the detection range (not to mention classification) of an object by means of standard thermal imaging sensors with a resolution of 640x512 can be reduced to 35 - 10 m and up to 50 - 20 m when using more high-aperture thermal imagers with more sensitive matrices, with higher resolution.

Earlier www1.ru reported that in Russia laser systems were proposed to be deployed to protect against UAVs.
