Oil Leaks Eliminated: ZMZ Upgrades ZMZ-409 Engine

Improved units are planned to be installed on the UAZ SGR family of vehicles and other models

At the Zavolzhsky Motor Plant (ZMZ), the cylinder head of the ZMZ-409 gasoline engine will be improved. These units are installed on many UAZ models — Patriot, Bukhanka, Pickup, and Profi. This was reported by the company's press service.

More mounting points have been added around the perimeter of the part and between the spark plug wells. This will eliminate oil leaks and increase the reliability of connections.

A modern processing line equipped with servo presses will provide precise control of the force and depth of pressing the valve guide bushings into the cylinder head. This guarantees the highest quality cylinder head manufacturing and increases the efficiency of the engine valve mechanism.

The new valve cover is undergoing testing. Deliveries of the product to the assembly line will start in the second quarter of this year.

The upgraded engines are planned to be installed on new UAZ car models, as well as the UAZ SGR family.

Earlier www1.ru reported that the UAZ Patriot will receive a new engine from Sollers.
