The Russian government has approved an initiative to zero out value-added tax (VAT) for manufacturers of unmanned aerial vehicles. The decision was made at a meeting of the commission on legislative activities, according to official feedback from the Cabinet.
The zero VAT rate will apply to civilian drones weighing from 0.15 to 30 kilograms, as well as their engines, spare parts, and components. This benefit will contribute to the development of the domestic drone market and the expansion of their use in various sectors of the economy. The initiative was supported by the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Transport, and the Ministry of Justice.
Nikolai Ryashin, General Director of Rusdronoport, stated that zeroing VAT will reduce the final cost of drones. He also emphasized that many components for drone production are purchased with VAT, which may affect the final benefit for manufacturers. Ryashin urged each manufacturer to assess the impact of this measure on their business, considering the specifics of the production process.
