Aviation to Reach New Heights: Rostec's Development to Enable Titanium Processing

Heavy milling head machines will be able to process 24-meter aircraft structural elements

The machine tool holding company "STAN" (part of Rostec) has launched mass production of high-performance milling heads for heavy-duty aircraft manufacturing machines. The new products will replace imported models, which have no analogues in Russia.

The products are designed for processing titanium, which is a key metal in aircraft construction, known for its strength and lightness.

The new heads are designed for five-axis gantry machining centers with CNC model СК6П200. Such machines are capable of processing large metal blanks for civil aircraft, including wing parts up to 24 m long.

STAN engineers completed the project in record time — just 8 months. To date, the first СК6П200 machines with new milling heads have successfully passed factory tests and have been put into operation.

Earlier, www1.ru reported that the Irkutsk Aviation Plant will increase the production of MC-21 to 36 aircraft per year.
