Sberbank, VTB, and MTS have launched a new feature: paying for purchases in Turkey using QR codes via a mobile application. Payments are made in rubles, which are converted to Turkish lira. No commission is charged to users.
At Sberbank, the service is currently operating in test mode, with a full launch planned for the end of March. The service has been available at VTB and MTS since March 12.
QR code payments can be made at all points of sale that support this method, including popular stores, cafes, and restaurants. To make a payment, the user needs to open the VTB, Sber, or MTS application, scan the QR code at the checkout, and confirm the transaction. In the "My MTS" application, you should go to the "Money" tab and select "QR Code Payment."
As part of the development of the MTS Fintech direction, we have launched a service so that customers feel more free when traveling abroad. You no longer need to waste time searching for ATMs and exchange offices, and worry about whether there is enough cash in local currency on hand.
