The military dismantled the 115-mm smoothbore gun U-5TS "Molot" (2A20) from a T-62M tank. This technique has become widespread in the combat zone.
In viral footage on the Web, you can see how soldiers were towing an American armored vehicle, the M1224 International MaxxPro. The task was performed by two tracked vehicles at once: a tractor based on the T-54/55 chassis and a T-62M. For some reason, the latter is missing its gun.
At the same time, both tow trucks are equipped with massive anti-drone "barbecue grills." The BTS-2/4, capable of towing objects whose mass is several times greater than the weight (more than 13,500 kg) of the M1224, could well have coped with the task. But when there are a large number of drones in the sky, extra insurance in the form of another tank won't hurt.
The T-62 was adopted in 1961, and with a mass of 37 tons, it is considered a medium-weight tank. Initially, the tanks were equipped with V-shaped 12-cylinder diesel engines with a capacity of 580 hp. Later, they were replaced with more powerful V-46-5M engines with a capacity of 690 hp, which allowed them to accelerate to 50 km/h on highways, and up to 27 km/h on dirt roads.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that crossing the "Shmel" flamethrower and a ground robot on the line of contact led to an unexpected result.
