Modernized Generator Stator Installation Continues at Leningrad NPP

Reinforcement of the stator winding will improve the efficiency of power unit No. 6

The installation of a modernized generator stator continues at power unit No. 6 of the Leningrad NPP. This process is part of a planned overhaul, during which the stator was installed in its regular place in the machine room.

The main feature of the modernization is the strengthening of the end windings of the stator. This improvement increases the rigidity and reliability of the winding fastening, as well as improves their vibration resistance and ability to withstand electrodynamic loads. These changes will significantly increase the efficiency and reliability of the equipment during power generation.

After the stator is installed, specialists will begin aligning the turbogenerator shaft line, and then perform the final assembly of the generator. It is important to connect the pipelines for cooling and many sensors that will monitor the temperature of the stator winding, vibration, and other parameters. In addition, hydraulic and high-voltage tests will be carried out. The final stage will be connecting the generator to the turbine, which will ensure its readiness for full operation on the power unit.
