Preparations for the construction of a new power unit site at the Beloyarsk NPP with a BN-1200M reactor will start in early summer 2025. «Atomstroyexport» is the general contractor.
Contractors will need to remove more than 1.5 million cubic meters of waste from the site, which was formed during the construction of previous power units. Then, specialists will cut down the forest and begin construction of temporary buildings and structures.
The power unit of the Beloyarsk NPP with the BN-1200M reactor is included in the general scheme for the placement of electricity facilities until 2042. Its lifespan will be at least 60 years, with the possibility of extension up to 80 years.
From 2034, the Beloyarsk NPP will be able to generate more than 20 billion kWh annually. This amount of electricity is enough to cover the needs of Yekaterinburg twice over.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the construction of an innovative power unit with a BN-1200M reactor starts in 2025 at the Beloyarsk NPP.
