The facility may be located either in the Rostov region or in the Krasnodar Territory. The planned capacity of the plant at the initial stage will be 1.2 GW, with the possibility of increasing to 2.4 GW by 2039. The location of the plant will be finalized after pre-project studies.

The total amount of generating capacity in Russia by 2042 will be 88.5 million kW. As part of changes in the country's energy structure, the share of nuclear power plants in electricity production is expected to increase from 18.9% in 2023 to 24% in 2042.
