The first reactor of the Akkuyu NPP is planned to be launched in 2025

The project is on track, despite the disruption of equipment supplies from Europe

The first reactor of the new Turkish Akkuyu NPP may be launched this year. This was announced by the head of the Turkish Ministry of Energy, Alparslan Bayraktar.

In general, our goal is to complete the construction of all four reactors as soon as possible. And we hope that with the commissioning of the first power unit this year, we will move closer to the goal of starting to generate electricity at the NPP, which Turkey has been striving for over the past 70 years.

The work is on schedule, despite the refusal of European partners to supply equipment.

Europe did not supply the equipment it was supposed to. Of course, we found an alternative, and the Russian company decided to supply this equipment from another country, which, of course, took some time.

Bayraktar also noted that two more large-scale projects are planned for implementation in 2025 — the construction of two NPPs in Thrace and Sinop.

Earlier www1.ru reported that the first backup diesel generator set was launched at the Akkuyu NPP.
