Countries in the Middle East have shown great interest in the new Pantsir-SMD-E anti-aircraft missile system (SAM) at the international exhibition IDEX-2025 in Abu Dhabi (UAE). This was announced by a representative of the High-Precision Complexes holding (part of Rostec).
According to him, this modification is now the most in demand, and not for conducting military operations, but for ensuring the protection of particularly important facilities.
These tasks are always relevant for any country, especially in the Middle East. For example, if we take the Gulf countries, which have a developed infrastructure, then such protection of facilities is important for them.
The Pantsir-SMD-E SAM system modification is designed to protect areas from massive air strikes. The complex is equipped with mini-missiles for engaging drones and does not have cannon armament, unlike the Pantsir-S1.
According to the manufacturer, the system is designed to defend military, administrative, and industrial facilities and areas from massive air strikes. One system unit can carry either 12 standard anti-aircraft guided missiles or 48 short-range intercept missiles for eliminating drones.
