The sale of dangerous car accessories may be banned in Russia

Russia may ban the sale of potentially dangerous car accessories. In particular, this concerns seat belt buckle inserts, as well as various covers and adapters for them.

The corresponding bill was developed by deputies of the "A Just Russia — For Truth" party together with the National Automobile Union. It will be submitted to Parliament for consideration in the near future.

The explanatory note to the document states that one of the key factors contributing to reducing mortality as a result of road traffic accidents is the active and passive safety systems of cars. One of the main elements of these systems is seat belts.

However, on marketplaces, as well as in chain supermarkets, auto parts stores and other retail outlets, you can find a wide range of special seat belt buckle inserts. These inserts allow drivers and passengers to disable systems that remind them of the need to use seat belts.

Today, such buckle inserts are actively sold online and in auto stores, for every taste and budget. People buy them, and then get into accidents, die or are treated for years from the consequences of accidents.
Sergey Mironov, one of the authors of the bill, leader of SRZP

According to crash test results, it is well known that unbuckled passengers are prone to serious injuries that can lead to death, the deputy reminded.

According to him, the problem is very serious. In this regard, SRZP calls for a ban on the sale of any goods, devices and accessories that may reduce the safety of drivers and passengers of cars.

Earlier, www1.ru reported that new rules for state registration of cars come into force on March 1. These changes will affect a variety of aspects, including the execution of an OSAGO policy and the possibility of removing a stolen car from registration.
