The "Ruselectronics" holding (part of Rostec) has developed a unique technology for manufacturing materials for chip resistors without precious metals.

In contrast to traditional components based on gold or platinum, the new products are characterized by low cost, while maintaining all performance characteristics.

The new technology involves the use of materials based on aluminoborosilicate glasses, which are used in the creation of electrical insulating coatings for electronic circuits on a metal substrate.

This makes it possible to abandon silver, palladium, gold and platinum in the production of thick-film chip resistors. At the same time, the performance characteristics are maintained at the level of traditional analogues.

A resistor is a passive element of an electrical circuit that limits the passage of electric current, converts current into voltage and vice versa, and also participates in other types of electrical energy redistribution.

Traditionally, precious metals are used in the production of such components, since they are less susceptible to corrosion and more heat-resistant compared to ordinary metals.
