Project 12700 "Alexandrite" minesweepers "Yakov Balyaev" and "Petr Ilyichev" used USV to neutralize mines in Kamchatka

The "Diez" automatic complex and the "Livadia" sonar station helped to detect the mines

The sea minesweepers (MTSch) "Yakov Balyaev" and "Petr Ilyichev" of project 12700 "Alexandrite" used the unmanned surface vehicle (USV) "Skanda" to search for and neutralize sea mines in Avacha Bay in Kamchatka. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defense.

The personnel of the MTSch "Petr Ilyichev" first used the "Diez" automatic mine search and detection complex and the "Livadia" sonar station, and then launched the USV.

With the help of a remotely controlled boat, the military discovered and identified floating mines via video transmission, after which the minesweeper crews destroyed them from the AK-306 artillery system. The minesweeper "Yakov Balyaev" ensured the task of searching for and destroying mines.

Project 12700 "Alexandrite" minesweepers are a series of Russian naval mine defense ships of the near sea zone. The ships of the series have a unique, the world's largest hull made of monolithic fiberglass, formed by vacuum infusion.

Earlier, the Russian military used strike drones to destroy unmanned surface vehicles (USV) in the Black Sea instead of combat helicopter crews. The first frames appeared on the Web.
