Спасительный зонтик от дронов: новейший российский радиолокатор обнаружит БПЛА за 20 км

The system integrates an electronic warfare station to suppress aerial targets

Russia has developed a special radar capable of detecting fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) at a range of up to 20 km, according to Alexander Nefediev, Vice President of the Avangard design and installation center (PMC).

According to him, the complex is already operating at Pulkovo Airport in St. Petersburg. The system detects UAVs, tracks them, and, if necessary, provides target designation for countermeasures.

The development can also provide information on the emergence of threats from quadcopter-type drones. The data range is about 6 km.

The complex also integrates an electronic warfare suppression system. Thanks to its operation, quadcopters can hover, return to the launch site, or be suppressed. However, the scheme will not work with airplanes; in this case, only fire damage is possible.
