Yuri Borisov may have been dismissed from his position as head of Roscosmos against the backdrop of uncertainties surrounding the implementation of the National Space Center project in Moscow. This was reported by RBC.
The facility is being constructed on the territory of the Khrunichev State Research and Production Space Center.
The construction cost is increasing, respectively, the distribution of territories is changing, and the issue of future operating expenses arises.
The newspaper Vedomosti added that Borisov's possible resignation had been discussed since the fall of 2024, while candidates were being selected to replace him.
Yuri Borisov was relieved of his post as head of the Roscosmos State Corporation on the morning of February 6. He had held this position since July 15, 2022. Deputy Minister of Transport Dmitry Bakanov became the new head of the state corporation.
