Russian companies Severstal and Apatit (part of PhosAgro) have developed impact-resistant grinding (milling) balls Iconball for grinding ferrous and non-ferrous metal ores, coal, cement and raw materials for the chemical industry. This was reported by the press service of Severstal.
Grinding balls are used at the Apatit mining and processing plant (PhosAgro Group) in the Murmansk region. They are needed for processing ore into apatite concentrate.
The joint project with Severstal to develop grinding balls with improved technical characteristics is a new step towards improving the efficiency of our final product production.
Specialists have introduced a new technology for the production and testing of grinding balls on a hydraulic machine. The developers managed to reduce the percentage of ball splitting to 2%.
Severstal has adapted logistics to new products. Grinding balls began to be supplied in big bags (soft containers), gondola cars and in bulk. They are also sent to the customer in containers with protective shields.
