The crew of the large-caliber 240-mm 2S4 «Tulip» mortar easily destroys even the most highly protected objects on the line of combat contact. The Russian Ministry of Defense noted that fire adjustment is carried out using an unmanned aerial vehicle.
The «Tulip» mortar is the largest caliber in the armament of the Russian army, and is considered one of the best in the world. Its shells are capable of penetrating a wall about a meter thick.
The installation fires mines weighing 120-230 kg at a distance of up to 20 km. At the same time, the «Tulip's» ammunition includes 20 high-explosive mines weighing 130 kg or ten active-rocket mines, each weighing 230 kg.
High-explosive, cluster, guided, incendiary, neutron and even nuclear mines are used for firing from the «Tulip». Due to the latter feature, the 2S4 is sometimes called a «nuclear mortar» by soldiers, and experts call it a «city destroyer». At the same time, the incredibly powerful mortar is distinguished by amazing accuracy.
