Russia has extended the service life of UR-100N UTTKh intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs), and they continue to be on combat duty. This was announced by Alexander Leonov, General Director and General Designer of NPO Mashinostroyeniya.
This work is extremely important. We are continuing this work. It is proceeding as normal. The entire program is being implemented. We work annually to extend the service life of these ICBMs for each year.
Leonov reminded that these ICBMs have been in service for 49 years, so it is necessary to carefully check their technical condition.
That's what we're doing. At the same time, a huge amount of work is being done to make sure that all systems are working as they should.
UR-100N UTTKh is a medium-class missile weighing 105 tons with a firing range of 10,000 km. The missile has a large warhead mass, the throw-over weight is about 4.5 tons.
