Russia's orbital constellation will reach 650 satellites by 2030. The state set this goal within the framework of the national project "Development of a Multi-Satellite Orbital Constellation," said Yuri Borisov, head of Roscosmos.
According to him, the project's task is to strengthen the country's position in space and achieve technological sovereignty.
The goal of the project is to create a multi-satellite constellation of approximately 650 spacecraft by 2030. This does not include commercial satellites. This is not just a number. Each satellite will become the eyes, ears, or voice of Russia in space, providing the most modern communication, navigation, and monitoring of the Earth.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the first module of the prospective Russian Orbital Station is planned to be launched into a near-polar orbit in December 2027.
