Подготовка космонавтов для МКС и Российской орбитальной станции будет единой

Roscosmos will not divide astronauts by mission when preparing for flights to the ISS and ROS

The commander of the Roscosmos astronaut corps, Oleg Kononenko, said that Russian astronauts will not be divided into different groups for flights to the International Space Station (ISS) and the future Russian Orbital Station (ROS). The training will be common for everyone.

There is no specialization as such. <...> After completing general space training, they will join the Russian team and prepare for what we are currently preparing for: if it is ROS, then ROS, if it is ISS, then ISS.

According to him, the list of astronauts who will be preparing for a flight to the Russian Orbital Station has not yet been determined.

Executive Director of Roscosmos for Manned Space Programs, Sergei Krikalev, noted that the most experienced astronauts will fly to the ROS to test new equipment.

The International Space Station has been in operation since 1998. According to the original plan, it was supposed to be operated for only 15 years. Its service life is constantly being extended: first to 2024, then to 2028 for the Russian segment. The launch of the first module of the new Russian orbital station is scheduled for 2027, with an estimated service life of 50 years.
