The Russian Railways (RZD) company updated its traction rolling stock fleet in 2024 — 562 new locomotives of domestic production were delivered to the network. This was reported by the company's press service.
The procurement structure includes 336 electric locomotives, including 303 freight locomotives: 2ES5K – 108 units, 3ES5K – 69 units, 4ES5K – 14 units, 3ES5S – 2 units, 2ES6 – 60 units, 3ES6 – 50 units. For driving passenger trains, 12 EP1M and 21 EP2K electric locomotives were purchased.
The total volume of diesel locomotive deliveries — 226 units. These include 4 TEP70BS passenger diesel locomotives.
The volume of shunting locomotive purchases amounted to 181 units, including 175 machines of the most massive series TEM18DM. In addition, 6 TEM23 shunting locomotives with a two-diesel power plant were purchased, providing fuel savings of up to 30%.
The traction rolling stock fleet was supplemented by 2TE25KM "Peresvet" diesel locomotives (18 units) and new import-substituted 3TE28 locomotives.
Another 23 powerful import-substituted 3TE28 series diesel locomotives have arrived at BAM.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that a TEP70BS passenger diesel locomotive with an automatic diesel start system was delivered to Russian Railways.
