Military personnel of the Eastern Military District at the "Troitsky" training ground in the Sakhalin Region underwent training in suppressing unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) using "Harpy" anti-drone guns. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defense.
In the theoretical part of the lesson, the military personnel studied the tactical and technical characteristics of the gun and methods of its use. Training is conducted by experienced instructors-specialists of electronic warfare (EW) units.
Before the practical part, the military personnel were visually explained the types of drones, the principles of their operation, the frequencies of these devices, and methods for neutralizing them.
The "Harpy" anti-drone gun includes an antenna with a high gain and a directional angle of 45 degrees. The product is equipped with eight independent radio frequency suppressors.
"Harpy 170W" is capable of blocking the operating frequencies of UAVs, including 433, 900, 1.4G, GPS L1, L2, L5, Wi-Fi 2.4G and 5.8G. The total power of the device is 170W, which allows it to reliably cope with the task of blocking drones.
The "firing" range at UAVs is up to 2 km, although it may vary depending on weather conditions. "Harpy" is capable of operating from a single battery for up to 50 minutes.
Earlier, the Russian Ministry of Defense showed footage of striking heavy equipment using FPV drones of the Rubicon Advanced Unmanned Technology Test Center.
