The crews of Il-38 anti-submarine aircraft of the mixed aviation regiment of the Northern Fleet practiced techniques for searching and tracking submarines of a mock enemy over the Barents Sea.
The pilots used hydroacoustic and radar means to detect underwater targets. Also, the Il-38 crews improved their flying skills in difficult meteorological conditions and practiced the technique of piloting aircraft using instruments.
The Il-38 aircraft is designed to search for, detect and destroy enemy submarines. It was developed on the basis of the Il-18D passenger aircraft.
