Mexican auto component giant Nemak has sold its plant in Russia, located in Ulyanovsk. The sale was completed at the end of 2024. The new owner is Promavtokonsalt Holding.
Prior to the sale, the Nemak plant in Ulyanovsk produced cast components, such as cylinder block and cylinder head castings for Volkswagen and Hyundai car brands. The plant was an important link in the supply chain for these manufacturers, as well as a basic supplier for Volkswagen plants.
The plant in Ulyanovsk was part of Nemak's global production complex, which specialized in high-tech aluminum components. Investments in the project in Russia amounted to about 2 billion rubles. Approximately 30% of the products were shipped for export.
With the transition to the new management of Promavtokonsalt, the plant will continue its operations. The company officially became the owner on December 12, 2024.
In addition, Promavtokonsalt also owns the former Schaeffler plant in the region.
