В 2025 году метро в Петербурге впервые дойдёт до Красносельского района

Work on the first two stations of the new line is nearing completion

The first section of the Krasnoselsko-Kalininskaya line of the St. Petersburg Metro is scheduled to launch in 2025. The throughput of the brown line will be 221 thousand passengers per day.

According to the Governor of St. Petersburg, Alexander Beglov, work on the first two stations of the new line, which will connect the metro with the Krasnoye Selo district, is already nearing completion.

We are completing the first launch section of the new Krasnoselsko-Kalininskaya line. We plan to open it in 2025. And we are already laying the next one, from "Putilovskaya" to Obvodny Canal.
Alexander Beglov, Governor of St. Petersburg

At the beginning of operation, the metro plans to open the "Yugo-Zapadnaya" ("Kazakovskaya") and "Putilovskaya" stations. "Yugo-Zapadnaya" will be the first metro station in the Krasnoselsky district of St. Petersburg. It will be located at the intersection of Marshal Kazakov and Marshal Zhukov streets.

The second station of the new line will become a transfer station to the red line station "Kirovsky Zavod". The vestibule of "Putilovskaya" will be located on Vasya Alekseev Street, between Stachek Avenue and Marshal Govorov Street. The section from "Yugo-Zapadnaya" to "Putilovskaya" will be able to handle 221 thousand people per day. Finishing work is already underway at both stations.

By 2030, the line, marked in brown on the map, will have the stations "Bronevaya", "Zastavskaya", "Borovaya" and "Karetnaya". They are currently in the design stage. After these stations are put into operation, the new line will extend to the Obvodny Canal embankment in the central part of St. Petersburg.

Alexander Beglov noted that the city has successfully overcome difficulties in the field of metro construction. At the end of 2024, St. Petersburg opened a new station, "Gorny Institute," on the orange line. The construction of new stations on the Nevsko-Vasileostrovskaya line is also continuing.

By 2030, St. Petersburg plans to open several more metro stations: "Bogatyrskaya", "Kamenka" and "Teatralnaya". In addition, 14 metro stations will be renovated within five years.

As a reminder, the first metro line in St. Petersburg was launched in 1955. This line included the stations "Ploschad Vosstaniya", "Vladimirskaya", "Technologichesky Institut", "Baltiyskaya", "Narvskaya", "Kirovsky Zavod" and "Avtovo". Later, "Pushkinskaya" joined them.

Currently, there are already more than 70 stations in the St. Petersburg Metro. One of its distinctive features is its architectural diversity. Many stations can rightfully be called works of art, decorated with mosaics, sculptures and other decorative elements.

The St. Petersburg Metro has launched a test fare payment by biometrics. Turnstiles have been installed at the "Gostiny Dvor" and "Ploschad Vosstaniya" stations, which allow passengers to pay for their fare using facial recognition technology. Testing of the system will continue until the end of February, after which it is planned to extend it to other stations.
