Двухтысячная ракета Р-7 со спутником «Ресурс-П» стартовала с Байконура

The launch vehicle lifted off from Site No. 31 of the Baikonur Cosmodrome at 10:45 Moscow time

The Soyuz-2.1b launch vehicle placed the Earth remote sensing satellite "Resurs-P" No. 5 into its working orbit. The launch took place from the Baikonur Cosmodrome.

The launch vehicle lifted off at 10:45 Moscow time. This launch was exactly the two thousandth for the R-7 family of rockets, which have been launching since May 15, 1957.

The "Resurs-P" series of spacecraft are designed for remote sensing of the Earth, as well as local and regional monitoring of its surface. They feature ultra-high spatial resolution — less than 1 meter per pixel.

The spacecraft are equipped with a tool to improve the accuracy and speed up the data processing, and have the ability to perform stereoscopic imaging to create three-dimensional surface models. Four "Resurs-P" satellites have been launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome since 2013, the most recent launch taking place in late March.

R-7 is a family of Soviet and Russian launch vehicles. Thanks to these rockets, all manned and a significant part of unmanned launches in the history of Russian cosmonautics have been carried out.
