Unmanned trains for freight transportation may appear in Russia. This was announced by the Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation, Roman Starovoit.
Quite possibly. This includes the formation of freight trains and shunting locomotives. They are already operating on our railways, within railway stations.
It is worth noting that in August of this year, Russian Railways launched a partially unmanned Lastochka train. Despite the fact that the train is still controlled by a driver from the cabin, the implementation of this project was an important step towards the further development of railway transport.
Earlier, the head of Russian Railways, Oleg Belozerov, also noted that the holding intends to launch a fully unmanned train by 2026. This opens up new horizons for the development of transport infrastructure in Russia.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that Russian Railways intends to launch unmanned trains by 2030.
