Insurance companies are preparing to offer their services to marketplace sellers. SberStrakhovanie announced the launch of a new product in early December 2024.
Insurers emphasize the attractiveness of this segment, linking the launch to the active growth of the e-commerce market. Currently, there are over 800,000 sellers in the industry, and marketplaces are the most popular sales channel. The insurance will protect sellers' goods from damage at all stages—from transportation to storage and order delivery. In addition, it will cover cases of product substitution or damage by the buyer and compensate for penalties for the return of defective products.
The minimum insurance amount will be 200,000 rubles, and the maximum will be 120 million rubles. SberStrakhovanie will provide services through a personal account on its website, covering sellers from all online platforms in the country.
AlfaStrakhovanie and Zetta Insurance plan to sell policies directly through marketplaces. Sellers are planned to be offered the opportunity to connect to an insurance program depending on their turnover and the specifics of their products.
The launch of such programs will also spur competition among insurers and marketplaces, striving to offer more favorable solutions for their sellers. In particular, Ozon is already developing an insurance direction, offering products under a white label model, and Wildberries is considering the possibility of integrating insurance services for sellers.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that Yandex will engage in insurance and wants to buy an insurance company.
