The effective range of the upgraded version of the Kh-39 LMUR subsonic multi-purpose tactical missile has exceeded 20 km. This could have been achieved through a slight reduction in the weight of the warhead with software optimization of the INS operation and the use of a higher impulse solid propellant rocket motor.
This range puts the LMUR on par with the latest JAGM multi-purpose tactical missile with a multispectral optoelectronic seeker. Now the missile should receive an active W-band radar sensor to ensure even more effective operation in difficult weather conditions.
The latest Kh-39 will provide Mi-28NM and Ka-52M crews with the ability to operate not only from closed low-altitude firing positions, but also from outside the range of the NASAMS SAM system in the standard version.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the unique tanker "Engineer-Admiral Kotov" was launched in Russia.
