Scientists from the Ural Interregional Research and Education Center (UIREC, which includes Ural Federal University, SUSU, KSU and others) plan to launch mass production of heat-protective capes for military personnel of the Russian Armed Forces. The development was shown at the Congress of Young Scientists in Sochi.
The heat-protective cape cannot be seen in the IR range. Thus, a soldier wearing it will not be detected by thermal imagers. The cape not only retains heat, but also does not let it out.
The Congress of Young Scientists also showcased a unique fire-retardant material for construction and production purposes. It is presented in the form of a foamed material plate. During testing, the development proved its protective properties.
