The construction of the Turkish NPP "Akkuyu" is gaining momentum. The first reactor of the station will be launched ahead of schedule. This was announced by the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey, Alparslan Bayraktar.

Currently, four reactors with a total capacity of 4.8 thousand MW are being built in our country. We plan to put the first unit of the NPP "Akkuyu" into operation in the near future, and all four by the end of 2028.

It was previously noted that the first power unit of the NPP "Akkuyu" will be commissioned in 2025. The launch of all four reactors of the station will provide 10% of Turkey's electricity needs.

The Russian Ambassador to Turkey, Alexei Yerkhov, noted that the launch dates of all four power units of the NPP "Akkuyu" are subject to clarification. He emphasized that the construction of such a facility is carried out in accordance with the IAEA requirements, instructions and regulations.
