In St. Petersburg, employees of the Baltic Shipyard (part of USC) used a floating crane and special equipment to hoist the propulsion electric motor (PEM) of the left side aboard the under-construction "Chukotka" nuclear icebreaker (Project 22220). This was reported by the corporation's press service.
The "Chukotka" will have 3 propulsion electric motors installed: 2 on board and 1 central. The power of each of them is 20 MW. The vessel is currently being completed afloat.
The fourth serial icebreaker of Project 22220 was launched on November 6. Russian President Vladimir Putin took part in the solemn ceremony. "Chukotka" is preparing for mooring trials.
