Serbia has asked Russia to help it build a branch that will connect the republic to the Druzhba oil pipeline through Hungary. According to Vladimir Kalanda, Vice President of Transneft, the Russian side is ready to assist in the implementation of this project.
Kalanda noted that this step will help Serbia significantly increase the volume of raw materials and become independent in the supply of oil for domestic consumption. Kalanda clarified that the length of the branch from Druzhba will be approximately 300 km.
In November 2022, Serbian leader Aleksandar Vučić confirmed plans to build an oil pipeline branch from Druzhba, which will be located on the territory of Hungary. Then he promised that by the end of 2024, the republic would present an economic justification for this project.
