Eight powerful class M flares occurred on the Sun on November 18, 2024. This was reported by the Institute of Applied Geophysics (IPG).
The first flare was recorded at 08:22 Moscow time. The most powerful of them — M3.7 — was noted at 15:53 Moscow time.
An M1.0 flare (S07E78) lasting 14 minutes was recorded in the X-ray range.
Experts also recorded seven cases of shortwave radio communication disruptions during the latest flares.
Flares are often accompanied by emissions of solar plasma. When they reach Earth, they can trigger magnetic storms. Depending on the power of X-ray radiation, solar flares are divided into five classes — A, B, C, M, and X.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that tornadoes may occur at the poles of the Sun.
