Дагестан просит правительство РФ запретить майнинг в регионе из-за проблем с электросетями

Increased energy consumption in the region, linked to mining, exacerbates the deficit

The authorities of Dagestan have appealed to the Russian government with a request to prohibit mining activities in the republic until the situation in the power grid complex stabilizes. The appeal was signed by the head of Dagestan, Sergei Melikov.

According to the press service of the head of the region, Melikov appealed to the federal authorities with a request to take into account the peculiarities of the region and impose a ban on mining in Dagestan until the situation in the local power grid infrastructure improves. It is specified that such a ban can only be adopted at the level of individual subjects of the Russian Federation.

In recent years, the republic has seen a sharp increase in energy consumption. Over the past year, this increase amounted to almost 8%, and over three years — about 26%. Particularly high consumption is observed during the heating season, which creates an additional burden on the regional power grid, the wear and tear of which exceeds the average Russian indicators.

The authorities are particularly concerned about the development of mining, which also significantly increases energy consumption. Mining farms developing in the region exacerbate the energy shortage and affect the reliability and quality of power supply for other consumers.
