Years of Observation: India Decides to Purchase Pantsir-S1 SAM System, Signing Memorandum with Rosoboronexport

Bulgarian Military: India will insist on localizing the production of the Pantsir-S1 SAM system

The Indian company Bharat Dynamics Limited has signed a memorandum of understanding with Rosoboronexport. New Delhi has expressed interest in purchasing the Pantsir-S1 anti-aircraft missile and gun system (SAM). This is reported by Bulgarian Military.

India values the effectiveness of the Pantsir-S1 against a wide range of aerial threats, including aircraft, helicopters, drones, and missiles. The complex can simultaneously engage up to 4 targets.

As Bulgarian Military writes, India "has been observing and analyzing for years" the operation of the SAM system in real combat conditions.

The memorandum of understanding marks a step forward, but falls short of the deal itself. Rather, it provides a basis for further discussions on technical specifications, delivery times, crew training, and maintenance of the SAM system.

The agreement will likely include localization of the production of the Pantsir-S1 or the participation of Indian companies in it.
