"Russian Post" warns of a new type of fraud associated with the use of codes from SMS messages. Fraudsters call customers with an offer to allegedly arrange delivery and ask them to name the combination of numbers that they will receive.
Be careful. If you receive calls allegedly on behalf of the company asking you to provide a code from an SMS to register or deliver, these are fraudsters.
Online fraudsters have already come up with a tricky deception scheme, masquerading as employees of "Russian Post". They sent selected victims notifications about the need to pay for a non-existent foreign parcel. If the person refused to make the payment, the attacker asked to provide the code from the SMS, allegedly to issue an official refusal in the databases of the postal service.
Fraudsters are becoming more sophisticated every time. Earlier www1.ru reported that now they are trying to steal the personal data of Russians, posing as "employees of energy sales companies".
