Novocherkassk Electric Locomotive Plant (NEVZ, part of Transmashholding) will manufacture a new 2ES9 main freight electric locomotive, the company's press service reported.
The manufacturing of the 2ES9 main freight electric locomotive is scheduled for 2025, with testing planned for July. Currently, the development of design documentation and technological preparation of production are underway.
The electric locomotive is planned to be used on the Eastern Polygon to haul trains weighing 7,100 tons at a speed of 120 km/h. The model will be equipped with an asynchronous traction drive.
The chassis will be unified with other Transmashholding locomotives — the TE30 platform diesel locomotives. A unified three-axle bogie is being created for both projects.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that Elmashremont-Chelyabinsk started repairing engines for 2ES4K and 3ES4K Donchak freight electric locomotives.
