The military-industrial holding company "Kingisepp Machine-Building Plant" (KMZ) has successfully tested the RPK-640 boat from a serial batch for the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations. This was reported by the holding's press service.
In May 2024, KMZ won a tender for the production of 199 multi-purpose boats for the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations. The contract value amounted to 2.76 billion rubles. The holding will launch serial production of small vessels.
Under the contract, KMZ will build boats of three types: patrol boats ПК-500 and RPK-640, as well as several RX-1173 boats (high-speed all-weather boats with a large cruising range).
The boat performed excellently on the water, maneuvered well, was easy to control, and reached a speed of 70 km/h. All the boat's equipment worked properly.
