KAMAZ is creating an innovative truck called Galleon. Its main area of application is work in ports. The technical characteristics and features of the model were revealed at a closed event for potential clients.
KAMAZ plans to expand its business by producing equipment for ports.
In August, a new subsidiary, «KAMAZ — Port Machines,» was created within the framework of this project.
The port tractor will be presented in two versions: with front and all-wheel drive. The curb weight will be 7.5 or 9 tons, and the payload capacity will be 33 tons. The main elements will be produced in Russia: frame, power unit, transmission, transfer mechanism.
The first prototype of the tractor will appear in early 2025, and the production of a pilot batch will start in late 2025 — early 2026. The truck will be named Galleon.
Earlier, KAMAZ presented its most giant truck «Atlant-65». Due to its size, it cannot travel on ordinary roads. This huge dump truck can carry up to 65 tons of cargo, and its own weight is 95 tons.
KAMAZ also showed a prototype of a hydrogen truck. It is capable of traveling up to 500 kilometers on a single battery charge.
