No More Than 15 km/h: Whoosh Limits the Speed of Users with Poor Reaction

E-scooters are slowed down based on the results of a test in the app

The kicksharing company Whoosh continues to develop initiatives to improve driving safety. Since July of this year, the service has begun to identify users with low concentration. This was reported by the company's press service.

Before the trip, the user takes a special test in the application to check cognitive reactions. The speed mode of the electric scooter is determined by the results. If the test is not passed, the speed of the personal mobility device (PMD) is limited to 15 km/h.

According to statistics, the test filters out users suspected of having slowed cognitive reactions due to critical fatigue or intoxication. The largest number of people suspected of having reduced attention are identified by testing on "bar" streets from midnight to 4–5 am on Friday and Saturday.

It is worth noting that the Moscow authorities have also begun to limit the speed of PMDs in a number of areas of the city. This has reduced the number of accidents.
