The Kingisepp Machine-Building Plant (KMZ), a military-industrial holding, has developed the KMZJET-295 waterjet for small vessels to replace the Finnish Alamarin Jet units. After testing, the company began serial production of waterjets and has produced about 100 units.
It's an SUV on the water. A very versatile tool. It's not afraid of anything.
According to Danilenko, the KMZ propulsion unit can pull a boat onto the shore or launch it back into the water. KMZJET-295 can also be operated in swampy areas.
The new waterjets are installed on the Russian Afalina boat, which is used by security forces, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, and the National Guard. Previously, Finnish Alamarin Jet propulsion units were installed on small vessels, but now they are not supplied to Russia due to Western sanctions.
Danilenko noted that in 2025, the production of KMZJET-295 is planned to be tripled. Such propulsion units will be installed on unmanned boats.
