The Tula Instrument Design Bureau (part of Rostec) has updated the fire control system software for the Pantsir-S1 anti-aircraft missile and gun system, adapting the system to intercept low-altitude tactical missiles and enemy UAVs.
Military expert Evgeny Damantsev noted that the RLM SOC radar detector of the complex, even before the update program, demonstrated the ability to detect SCALP-EG tactical missiles at a distance of about 10 km, with target designation to the 10ES1 optoelectronic module and the 1RS2 Shlem millimeter-wave guidance radar.
Mass production of the modernized Pantsir-SM SAM system should begin in the near future. They will receive higher-energy guidance radars with a reflective-type PFAR 1RS-3 with the ability to capture a target such as the URS M30A1 at a distance of 25-27 km.
In addition, the systems will be equipped with modernized hypersonic two-stage 57E6M interceptor missiles with a range of up to 40 km and the possibility of kinetic interception, and small-sized 19Ya6 missiles to counter UAVs.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that an improved BTR-82A with enhanced armor protection was developed in Russia. The vehicle is armed with a 2A72 30 mm cannon and can withstand a hit from B-32 armor-piercing bullets.
