Launch of the Promising Soyuz-5 Carrier Rocket to Take Place in 2026

The first launch was postponed from December 2026

The first launch of the promising Soyuz-5 carrier rocket will take place not at the end of 2025, as previously planned, but in 2026. This was announced by the first Deputy General Director of the Rocket and Space Center "Progress," Ravil Akhmetov.

As a reminder, in August of this year, NPO Energomash announced its readiness to produce RD-171MV. This engine is the most powerful liquid-propellant rocket engine in the world. Its thrust is 800 tons with a mass of 10 tons.

It is intended for the first stage of the Soyuz-5 carrier rocket. Two flight models have been created, and the third will be ready by the end of the year. Tests will be conducted in 2025.
