The "Roselectronics" holding (part of Rostec) has begun testing "Vulkan" reed sensors for automation and signaling systems of nuclear power plants, the holding's press service reported.
The device is designed for use in high-pressure steam pipelines. The "Vulkan" sensor is designed for 5 billion actuations, can withstand shocks with an acceleration of 150g, powerful earthquakes, and temperatures up to 350 C°.
It was developed by the only enterprise in the country for the production of magnetically controlled sealed contacts (reed switches) – the Ryazan Plant of Metal-Ceramic Devices (RZMKP).
The press service of "Roselectronics" explained that the sensor will be installed inside the valves of steam pipelines. The "Vulkan" does not require electricity to operate.
The signaling devices developed by the enterprise are unique, since such reed switch products have never been used in the operation of nuclear power plants before.
According to him, the company expects to launch the sensor certification process by the end of 2024.
Where are reed switches used:
- household appliances
- automotive equipment
- medical equipment
- telecommunications equipment
- automation and security systems
