The company "Russian Railways" (RZD) is considering a deal to sell the building of the Riga Railway Station in Moscow. The issue will be submitted to the Board of Directors for discussion on September 27, 2024. This was reported by the company's press service.
It is worth noting that the station was under reconstruction from March 1, 2023, to September 1, 2024. The main goal of the reconstruction was to re-equip the railway tracks for the launch of the MCD-4, digitalize traffic control systems, and build two new platforms with a length of 270 meters.
After the completion of the modernization on September 1, 2024, suburban trains began to arrive and depart from the Moscow-Riga station. On weekdays, 7 pairs of trains run, and on weekends — 8. For the most part, these are electric trains for long-distance routes to the Rumyantsevo, Novoierusalimskaya, Volokolamsk, and Shakhovskaya stations.
The sale of the station building could be an important deal for Russian Railways, given its historical and transport significance for the capital.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that the Riga Railway Station resumed its work in Moscow.
