The navigator-operator of the Mi-28NM "Night Hunter" reconnaissance and attack helicopter discovered heat-contrast enemy armored vehicles at the front at a distance of about 6500 m. He was assisted by the thermal imaging channel of the OPS-28M multispectral optoelectronic sighting system, explained military expert Evgeny Damantsev.
An 9M127-1 "Vikhr-1" anti-tank guided missile with armor penetration of about 1050 mm without dynamic protection and a mid-trajectory speed of 470-500 m/s was used against one of the units.
The expert noted that the acoustic signature of the Mi-28NM is significantly lower than that of the coaxial Ka-52M. This aerodynamic arrangement of the blades increased the speed of the machine to 330-335 km/h.
