According to the press service of the Ministry of Defense, at the Severomorsk-1 airfield, under the command of the commander of the mixed aviation corps of the Northern Fleet, Lieutenant General Alexander Otroshchenko, they worked out an element of special exercises on the types of support for naval aviation of the Navy.
More than 20 aircraft were involved in special exercises on the types of support for naval aviation of the Navy, including fighters Su-30SM, Su-33, Su-24M, MiG-29K, Il-28 bomber, helicopters Ka-27 of various modifications.
Various aviation equipment, 58 units of military and special equipment, and more than 750 personnel also took part in them.
The main episode of the exercises was the withdrawal of aircraft from under the enemy's strike, with a practical demonstration of the elements of taxiing and taking off of aircraft of various types and classes from the airfield, as well as meteorological and radio engineering support for naval aviation in the course of solving such tasks. The preceding element was the actions of engineering and aviation units upon receiving a signal about the threat of an enemy air attack. The technical staff demonstrated measures to accelerate the preparation of aviation equipment for withdrawal from under attack.
The following were also worked out and shown:
- actions of navigational, engineering and aviation, airfield-technical, electrical-gas and engineering-airfield support of naval aviation;
- measures to counter sabotage and reconnaissance groups and illegal armed formations of a mock enemy using small-sized drones;
- actions of duty forces to organize the protection and defense of airfields;
- actions of duty forces in the event of a fire on aviation equipment, the work of the fire team with the involvement of additional fire extinguishing forces and equipment.
In addition, engineering and airfield support groups conducted engineering reconnaissance of the area and worked out elements of runway restoration.
At the final stage, the actions of aviation units to quickly restore the combat capability of aviation after the enemy strike were demonstrated.
It is noted that a group of specialists from the Main Command and Fleets of the Russian Navy observed the course of special exercises.
