A new petroleum bitumen has been developed at Perm National Research Polytechnic University (PNRPU). This was reported by the university's press service.
The material will increase the strength of the road surface and reduce the cost of its construction.
In the bitumen composition, we replaced expensive modifiers with a thermoplastic polymer (polyethylene). As a result, a high-quality building material was obtained, which not only complies with GOST but also has significant advantages in terms of plasticity, resistance to low temperatures, as well as resistance to aging and elasticity.
The advantage of the new technology is the simplification of the bitumen production process and the reduction of toxic gas emissions generated during oxidation. This will help improve the environmental situation at production sites. The development has the potential for widespread use in the road industry throughout the country.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that in Perm they came up with a way to build roads from soda production waste.
